Buying a buying a toy hauler is always fun, but being able to buy repo toy haulers for 30% to 40% less, makes the experience a lot more enjoyable. When you buy a repo toy hauler, it also allows you to be able to buy a much larger and newer toy hauler than you would otherwise be able to afford.
Decide What You Want and How Much You Want to Pay for It
A toy hauler is a man’s version of a motorhome that should be 50% home and 50% garage. Owning a toy hauler is a lot of fun. It is a great way for you and your family to spend your vacations. If you get a toy hauler that can haul ATV’s or motorcycles, it makes it pretty easy for you to enjoy your vacation. Look at a bunch of different toy haulers and decide which ones you like the best. Also, set a goal for the maximum amount you would be willing to pay for that trailer. The next step is to actually try and find the trailer for 30% to 40% less.
Find out Where You Can Get Good Discounts
There are three different places that you can go to find discounts. The first place you can go is to go directly to a seller that is trying to sell to avoid having their trailer repoed. These types of sellers are desperate to sell quickly, and they might be willing to short sell it to you if they have equity in it, just so they can get out of making their monthly payments. Otherwise, you can typically get a bank to agree on a short sell, because it is still cheaper than them having to repossess the vehicle, and then sell it at an auction.
The second place where you can go is to an RV auction. Typically, RV auctions sell repo toy haulers for at least 30% less than their retail value. Often, these trailers sell at or below the trade-in value. It is a great opportunity for you to save money, the only disadvantage to buying a trailer this way is that you often have to pay cash for it, and you don’t get a lot of time to inspect it before buying it at an RV auction.
The last place where you can buy bank repo travel trailers is to buy them directly from the bank. I have found out that credit unions are typically smaller and easier to work with than banks. Also, a lot of banks already have a third-party dealership, or auction houses that will take care of their repossessed inventory. Credit unions on the other hand, may try to list and sell their RVs themselves. If you can find credit unions that are willing to work with you, you might be able to get a great deal by short selling a repossessed toy hauler.
Make Sure You Know What You’re Buying
Just because something is offered at a discount doesn’t mean it is a great deal. Buying repo toy haulers for sale is still a large investment to make. Make sure that you inspect the toy hauler properly before buying it. Make sure to check the generator, and the appliances. Make sure to check the hitch, the roof, and the external body of the RV. Also, you want to inspect the tires, and the stabilizers to make sure they are properly working. If you have to find out things that are wrong with the RV while you are inspecting it, see if you can negotiate a better deal because of it. If you find that there are too many things wrong with the RV, don’t buy it. You’re going to be much better off if you don’t have to put extra money into it.
